For active travelers and sportslovers the Vaucluse is a true paradise. And not only for the cyclists amongst us, but also for hikers, runners and trailrunners. The Vaucluse has more then 3.000 km of marked tracks.
Besides cycling, walking, hiking, (trail)running in the direct surroundings of our bed & breakfast, there are also possibilities for rockclimbing, horse riding and canoeing. During your stay we are more than happy to help you in defining your daily activities and tracks.
It can’t be missed that many enthousiastic cyclists are visiting this area to ascend the majestic Mont Ventoux. The ascend is possible from three villages: Malaucène, Bédoin and Sault. For many cyclists this is the ultimate challenge of their holiday. With the ascend out of Bédoin as the most famous one which finishes on the bare mountain side well known for the amazing views but also heavy wind. For those who find the Mont Ventoux climb too much effort there are more then enough alternative tours with amazing views on the Bare Mountain. The Dentelles de Montmiral, the Gorges de la Nesque and many other cycling tracks are known for the cols and beautiful views on the vineyards, lavender fields, cliffs and cosy Provencal villages. From Au Soleil du Bonheur you will have a beautifull ride to the foot of the Mont Ventoux.

MTB tracks are wide spread in the area. You could say: where there are hiking trails, there are MTB tracks. From easy tracks over paved roads to difficult tracks on rocky paths, slopes or forest paths. Most of the tracks give you amazing views changing by the season. With the set tracks around the area you will have different challenges everyday. Also for the MTB-er the ascend to the summit of the Mont Ventoux is the ultimate challenge. Au Soleil du Bonheur is situated in the middle of the Dentelles de Montmirail where different tracks pass or even start in front of our house.

Walking, hiking and (trail)running
Walking and hiking over the paths of the Vaucluse across the vineyards and lavender fields, in the middel of the ocres landscapes and passing charming, high located villages. When you do not fear the meters of altitude the varied tracks through the Dentelles de Montmirails en the Mont Ventoux are breath taking. Also there are set tracks for trailrunning in the area. As we are hikers and trail runners ourselves we are able to give you advise about beautiful tracks.
Au Soleil du Bonheur, is situated in the middle of the Dentelles where mulitple walking and hiking tracks are passing by or starting. More then 40km of marked tracks are available. The tracks are passing small landroads between rockformations, vineyards and the small villages in and around the Dentelles de Montmirail. The meters of altitude are there at all times. From Lafare short trips as wel as longer trips are possible.
PROVENCE VAUCLUSE LAFARE MONT VENTOUX
The Dentelles de Montmirail with it’s unusual shaped mountain tops are the foothills of the Alpes in the Rhone valley. Caused by erosion the mountains consist of more then 1.000 small peaks. The limestone cliffs tower above the landscape like a Mohawk. The highest peak is at 734 altitude and called Mont Saint-Amand. It is an old massive where rock climbing started as early as the 1920’s.
The most important climb wall of the Dentelles de Montmiral is the south wall of the Clapis Chain, of which the parking place is only 2km away from Au Soleil du Bonheur.
DENTELLES DE MONTMIRAIL AU SOLEIL DU BONHEUR
Horse riding can be done from Lafare, if you want to make a beautiful ride trough the breathtaking landscape of the Dentelles de Montmiral. You can stable your horse at 500 meter of Au Soleil du Bonheur as there is a horse pension closeby. There are beautiful tracks outside the Dentelles de Montmirail aswell, if you don’t mind taking the car.

Canoeing and kayaking
From the Dentelles de Montmiral you can go to Fontaine de Vaucluse for a refreshing 8 km downstream tour on the emerald-green Sorgue, or if you go to Vallon Pont d’Arc for a 8-32 km downstream by canoe or kajak through the Gorges de l’Ardeche.
